Victoria Budzinski is a 10-year-old dancer from Kansas City, Missouri. She dances at Priscilla and Dana’s School of Dance.

“I encourage everyone to dance, take dance, or move to music. Dancing has given me many opportunities and taken me places I never thought I would go.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

My mom always says, “The world is a better place with dance and dancers in it.” I completely agree. Dance is a path that can connect people, feelings, and awareness all without speaking. Dance also connects me to myself. Sometimes emotions—whether happy, sad, frustrated—can only be realized with dance, movement, and song. Getting lost in that moment makes all other moments seem distant. Dance has also given me so many life lessons so far—time management, defeat, success, pain, fearlessness, letting friends down, self-confidence, and how to support other people and acknowledge when I am being supported. These lessons will take me further than any trophy or crown.

How do you want to use dance to be a positive influence on your community?

I encourage everyone to dance, take dance, or move to music. Dancing has given me many opportunities and taken me places I never thought I would go. That is how I would like to continue influencing my community. Dance is everywhere and can take you anywhere. It can bring a smile to a small audience in a nursing home or dance about cancer awareness at a NFL Chiefs halftime. Dance moves people, and I want to be that platform that inspires others to just move to music and let it take you places.
