If we’ve learned anything this year, it’s that nothing can stop the world from dancing, even if that something is a global pandemic. That lesson holds true for World Ballet Day 2020, the international social media celebration of all things ballet that happens each year.

On October 29, World Ballet Day 2020 is being hosted by The Royal Ballet, The Australian Ballet, and the Bolshoi Ballet with American Ballet Theatre, Houston Ballet, The Royal Danish Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, and more also participating in live Facebook and YouTube events. The events will take place for pretty much the entire day as companies from around the world share their love of ballet. If you’re not up (literally) for twenty-four hours of dance live streams, the streams will be available to watch afterward on Facebook and YouTube.

The celebration isn’t just for the professionals, though. Everyone is invited to join in and celebrate World Ballet Day by using #worldballetday on social media. Bunheads, leapers, pirouette enthusiasts, and anyone else with a passion for this classic style of dance is encouraged to join the conversations and celebrations.
