It’s official! Broadway is bringing a classic spooky musical back to the stage next year. Deadline reported this week that the Stephen Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler favorite Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street would return starring Josh Groban as Sweeney Todd and Annaleigh Ashford as Mrs. Lovett.

The tale of the villainous barber Sweeney Todd and his unfortunate victims is a musical thriller that Broadway fans have been anticipating for weeks with rumors swirling and a ticket link already out. The musical, directed by Thomas Kail (Hamilton) and choreographed by Steven Hoggett will be on Broadway for the first time since 1980.

Sweeney Todd will begin performances Sunday, February 26, 2023 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre ahead of is official March 26 opening. No additional casting has been announced. Tickets are on sale now.
