Finding things to do can be a struggle for anyone that’s social distancing, especially if you’re used to all-day routines like school, work, and time in the dance studio. So, you need to find things to keep you busy, entertained, and motivated. What about relaxed? During uncertain times like the one we face now with quarantines and social-distancing things that are calming are just as important as things that keep us active.

You could have an at-home spa day, practice yoga, or even read a book–or better yet, have someone read to you. But you probably don’t want to listen to just anyone read. Instead of sifting through audiobooks for the perfect voice artist and story pairing, why not get cozy with your younger family members for a virtual storytime?

Writers like Misty Copeland, BJ Novak, Jacqueline Woodson, Ransom Riggs, and even Dolly Parton are working with Penguin Kids’ Read Together, Be Together program which is providing daily storytime sessions on Instagram and Facebook to celebrate reading and bring a community of young readers and their families together. Even if you’re “too old” for picture books, this is the perfect time to enjoy quality time with your family. Being together and supporting one another is more important now than ever.

To join in on these storytime sessions, you can follow @penguinkids or @randomhousekids on Instagram for each week’s lineup of readers and the accounts that will be hosting their livestreams. You can also visit www.readtogetherbetogether.com for information about the books they’re reading, more reading opportunities and challenges (like a recipe for tacos inspired by Dragons Love Tacos), and even printable activities hosted by Penguin.
