Summer Stidham is a 12-year-old dance from McClelland, Iowa. She dances at Miss Tammy’s School of Dance.

“I love making people smile, and dance really helps me do that.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

“Dance impacts my life by showing me what it means to work hard and have dedication for something. I can’t imagine my life without dance. My dance friends and I are super close, and I would do anything for them. When I was younger, I hated dance and wouldn’t want to go. But four years ago, I really started to have a passion for dance. Now, dance is the only thing I want to do. Also, four years ago was when I joined my competition team. I love MTAD, and wouldn’t want to dance with anybody else.”

How do you want to use dance to make a positive influence on your community?

“At my studio, we dance at local parades. I love doing this because I get to see little kids’ faces light up when they watch us dance.  At my school, we don’t have a dance team, so one of the coaches is putting together a middle school team, so we can have the passion for dance in high school. My studio also goes to the Buddy Walk, and we get to dance for people with Down syndrome. That is one of my favorite things to do. I love making people smile, and dance really helps me do that.”
