Sometimes our favorite fandoms and our favorite fashions come together. This time, the Harry Potter fandom and the talented community of Instagram hairstylists have created something magical (and they didn’t even use wands). Harry Potter trends aren’t anything surprising. There are makeup palettes and looks, bath bombs, apparel – you name it, there’s a version of it themed after the four famous houses in J.K. Rowling’s iconic book series, but these hair trends are game changers.

In case you aren’t a fan of the Harry Potter franchise, butterbeer is a beverage from the wizarding world (but you can find it in the muggle world at places like Universal Studios and even Books a Million). Harry and his friends often celebrate with the butterscotch-flavored drink at Hogsmeade. Now, we’re celebrating beauty innovation with butterbeer-colored hair.

However, despite a pretty standard depiction of the drink in the movies and in places that serve it as a novelty, this hair trend has a wide range of interpretations ranging from butterscotch yellows to deep oranges. Some savvy stylists even manage to shake some magic out of their curling wands for gorgeously blended waves and highlights!

Gryffindor Hair

Gryffindor hair has a style that is a bit more specific. Inspired by the colors in the Gryffindor crest, the original look designed by Virginia Beach Hairstylist Cryistal Chaos of High Voltage Hair mimics the thick, striped look of a house scarf by bleaching sections of the hair while leaving other sections untouched and natural. The completed look is colorful, and roars Gryffindor house spirit.

Don’t get discouraged if you don’t belong to the same house as The Boy Who Lived, though. Other talented stylists have created looks inspired by their favorite houses. These looks range from subtle to surprising, but they all clearly carry the colors and aesthetics of the houses they were inspired by. Whether you’re more of a Slytherin, a Hufflepuff, or a Ravenclaw, there’s a unique look out there for you.

If we’ve learned anything, it’s that if there’s an inspiration, a hair trend will soon follow. Next time you’re in divination class, look into your crystal ball. Who knows, maybe you’ll see the next wildly gorgeous hair trend floating around in there.
