Singer-songwriter Georgia VanNewkirk was born in Los Angeles, California but raised on the other side of the country in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Her music reflects this pairing of the pop drama of the west coast and the soulful sounds of the east and country music. Last week, Georgia dropped her second single “Blue Velvet”

“Blue Velvet is a song I wrote about falling in love,” Georgia tells us. “I use music to sort out my emotions, and because I am unable to tell someone I love them outright, I cloak my feelings in heavy metaphors and dreamy melodies.” A major contrast to her debut single “Wish You Well” which was a strong goodbye to a former love, “Blue Velvet” invites her listeners to float around in a blue dreamscape of love and contentment.

“Blue Velvet is the story of my hesitancy to give my heart away, and eventually, my dive into the blue velvet abyss,” Georgia said about the single that is now available on all streaming platforms. We can hardly wait to see how she’ll capture that “blue velvet abyss” in the music video she announced on her Instagram will be coming out next month.
