Created in 1998, The Powerpuff Girls has been a cartoon staple for people all over the world. Since their creation, the three pint-sized superheroines have flown around the city of Townsville defeating enemies from the mad scientist chimpanzee Mojo Jojo to their own evil counterparts the Powerpunk Girls. The original show ran until 2005 with movies scattered through that time period. In 2016, a reboot of the show was introduced to the world with new voice actors, but the three girls made of sugar, spice, and everything nice remained mostly unchanged – until now.
On Thursday, Cartoon Network announced on their official Instagram that a fourth Powerpuff Girl would be making her debut September 17th. Based on the caption that went along with the post, the new girl will add purple to the girls' red, green, and blue lineup. Other than that, not much has been announced about this mysterious new superheroine. But we know who will be voicing her!
Yesterday, singer Toya Delazy revealed to Twitter that she would be the voice behind the now much-anticipated new Powerpuff girl. The internet (and us too!) are super excited to see Delazy become what will probably be a much-loved character, but people also had questions about this "fourth Powerpuff Girl."
A fourth Powerpuff Girl named Bunny appeared in season 2 of the original show.
From the mysterious promo picture, it is pretty clear that this new fourth Powerpuff Girl isn't Bunny, but that doesn't mean we don't have a lot of questions. What name will she have (of course, it will start with a 'B')? We also wonder what inspired the producers and directors behind the show to add this new superheroine. Maybe some of the fabulous art from their #PowerpufftheWorld campaign?
