NBC’s World of Dance judge Derek Hough is getting ready for a tour that will feature all of his performance abilities from dancing to singing. The two-month tour, Derek Hough Live! will not only showcase the ballroom dance that the Emmy Award winner is known for. According to his website, during the tour “Derek explores styles ranging from ballroom and tap to salsa and hip-hop and everything in between.”

But it won’t be Derek alone on stage. He is performing with some of the best and most popular dancers in the professional world right now. Of the seven dancers on the tour (Derek makes eight), World of Dance finalist Charity Anderson, champion ballroom dancer Daniella Karagach, and So You Think You Can Dance Season 15 favorite Jay Jay Dixonbey are some of the incredible talent audience members can expect to see.

Dancing is only one part of the show, though. For his first solo tour, Derek is pulling out all the stops. He has a full band (including drums, guitar, saxophone, and even trumpets) and will also be playing music himself. Oh, and violinist and dancer Lindsey Stirling recorded violin tracks for the tour as well. He’s even going to sing!

This is new for Derek who has never brought live music into previous tours with his sister Julianne Hough, but it’s all part of putting on an incredible performance. In an interview with the Charlotte Observer, Derek talked about his choice to do more than dance. “I’m always trying to figure out how to raise the bar a little bit, and I wanted to make this tour feel different,” he said.

Derek Hough Live! The Tour will begin in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Ovens Auditorium on Friday, April 5, 2019, and you’re not going to want to miss it. If you’re not in Charlotte, don’t worry, though. The two-month tour will take Derek all over the United States before returning back to the eastern states for a final bow in Reading, Pennsylvania June 15.
