Nevaeh Montoya is a 14-year-old dancer from Littleton, Colorado. She dances at Shelly True Dance Academy.

“Most of all, dancing brings me happiness and so many lifelong friendships.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

“Dance has had a positive influence on my life in many ways. It has helped me gain self-confidence and build my self-esteem. Dance has taught me the importance of diet, health and fitness that will lead me to a healthy active lifestyle. Dancing on a competitive team has taught me about commitment and responsibility. Participating in multiple activities, I have learned valuable time management skills that will continue to help me throughout my life. But most of all, dancing brings me happiness and so many life long friendships.”

How do you want to use dance to make a positive influence on your community?

“I want to inspire not only dancers but the youth in my community to believe in themselves and to follow their dreams. I want to spread a positive message to be the best that you can be in all that you do. We all can’t be the best soccer player, the best dance or the smartest student. But if we go out there and give it are all then that is an accomplishment to be proud of.”
