Delaney McGowan is a 14-year-old dancer from Westminster, Colorado. She dances at Elite Dance Academy.

“I like to use dance to bring happiness to others, and I enjoy inspiring others to join in dance for health, wellness, and community.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

In 2020, when the world shut down, and I was stuck at home for school and dance, I was able to connect with others from around the world through dance. Taking a class via Zoom with dancers from Paris, Australia, and NYC while I was in my house in Colorado allowed me to be a part of something bigger than myself. It brought me joy and connection during a dark time. Even during regular times, dance has taught me so much and helped me to realize how to celebrate the good days and dance through the bad.

How do you want to use dance to be a positive influence on your community?

Dance is a narrative, and I’m always happy to share a story through movement. I like to use dance to bring happiness to others, and I enjoy inspiring others to join in dance for health, wellness, and community.
