Since being announced earlier this year, we have been highly anticipating the release of American Ballet and Bolshoi Ballet Principal David Hallberg’s memoir A Body of Work: Dancing to the Edge and Back. The book is about Hallberg’s career as a professional dancer and seems to focus strongly on his recovery from a severe ankle injury in 2014. This injury kept him off the stage and out of the spotlight until late last year. While we mourn for Hallberg’s struggles, we also know that his story is a valuable moment of inspiration for any dancer who has been held back by injury or illness.
