Hello, Summertime! It’s a brand new season, and it’s time to try out all the new styles making headlines and filling our feeds.

But wait, let’s slow down. Let’s just focus on hairstyles for now. Start at the top! These are a few of my current favorite hairstyles and how to use them everyday. Whether you have short or long hair, you can totally adjust these styles to work for your length and look. Just have fun, make it your own, and don’t forget the hairspray!

Curl and Crimp

The ultimate summer beach babe look this year is a true show stopper. This summer style really speaks for itself. Just crimp and curl, and you’re ready for your next summer adventure. Volume is the key here! After giving your hair a wavy look with a curling wand and hair crimper, tease it up. I went for two buns to create a half-up, half-down style. If you’re going for all the details, add a leave-in treatment serum to your hairline to seal in moisture and tame any frizz.

In a round up of trendy this summer’s hairstyles, Elle says “The wavy shag allows you to keep your hair light and low maintenance making it perfect for a summer of socializing.” And this look is perfect for socializing. With this much texture, you have so many styling possibilities. Your hair will practically do all the talking for you.

“Your hair is the Crown you never take off.”

Pigtails

Full stop. This is one of my absolute faves. This hairstyle always puts me in a good mood. There are so many ways to style these two simple ponytails to match any situation. Part your hair down the center in an even middle part. Smooth it out. Secure each side into a ponytail. Simple! The height of your pigtails is totally up to you. High, middle, or low pigtails, they’re all fun, and they look great with a pair of shades.

Braids

Before we move on to another style, let’s step up our pigtail game a bit. Our classic middle part pigtails can get a little more exciting just by adding a braid on each side. For an absolutely seamless look, I like to finish off each braid with a clear elastic. Gold hoops and a bucket hat immediately elevate this look to summer status. Beat the heat and look like you’re walking on sunshine.

Wet Hair Don’t Care

Are you just out of the pool or fresh off the beach? Well, the wet hair look is in this summer. You can easily style this look right out of the shower. Brush well-dampened hair out and then comb it straight back so there’s no part. Hairspray, mousse, or gel are great for holding this look even as your hair dries. Just apply on the top and sides. This look really is straight from the runway. Even Versace models were walking with styled wet hair. L’Officiel USA says the “water-drenched look” works in aquatic settings, but it’s just as fabulous for everyday chic.

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. fashion is in the sky, in the street. fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
– Coco Chanel

Claw Clip

The mid-90s called, but we’re not giving them their accessories back. The claw clip is an absolute classic. Period. There are so many amazing ways to create modern and throwback styles with one clip. For an easy go-to look, part your hair and brush it backward to capture in the clip. Depending on your hair length, you can let the loose ends hang back down over the claw clip, or you can tuck them into the clip with the rest of your hair. This style is also a great alternative up-do to a ponytail because the clips don’t crease your hair!
